Woman Wakes Up at Own Funeral, Dies of Shock

(Newser) – There’s irony, and then there’s the story of Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, a 49-year-old Russian woman who woke up at her own funeral only to have a heart attack and die when she realized what was going on. Mukhametzyanov had been falsely declared dead after collapsing with chest pains, the Daily Mail reports. When she awoke, she was lying in a coffin, with mourners filing past and saying prayers. She screamed, and passed out again.

“Her eyes fluttered, and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital,” her husband says. “But she only lived for another 12 minutes in intensive care before she died again, this time for good.” The hospital says it’s investigating the incident. “I am very angry, and I want answers,” the husband says. “She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her.”

Woman Tries To Kill Her Boyfriend With Her Breasts

A busty woman is accused of trying to kill her boyfriend by suffocating him with her double-D breasts.

Franziska Hansen, 33, is reportedly charged with “attempted murder with a weapon” after her lawyer boyfriend claimed she tried to smother him while pretending it was a sex game.

Nine-stone Franziska, from Germany, denies the allegations, saying it was a sex game and he knew what it was about, according to the Daily Mail.

But boyfriend Tim Schmidt claims she admitted trying to kill him on the phone, saying she smothered him because she “wanted to make your death as pleasurable as possible”.

He told a court in Germany that the couple had been having sex in May this year when Ms Hansen suddenly grabbed his head and pushed it between her breasts with all her force.

He is quoted as saying: “I couldn't breathe any more, I must have turned blue. I couldn't tear myself free and I thought I was going to die.”

Mr Schmidt, who weighs 13 stone, claims he managed to wriggle free and fled naked to a neighbour, who raised the alarm.

He told the court that the couple’s four-year relationship had been strained after they moved to the town of Unna, where his career as a lawyer took off and she struggled to hold a job.

Mr Schmidt said his girlfriend tried to kill him after she discovered he was planning to leave her.

He reportedly told the court: “It is clear she wanted to kill me. She even admitted it to me on the telephone.

“I asked her why she wanted to smother me to death with her breasts and she told me: ‘Treasure – I wanted your death to be as pleasurable as possible.’”

Two people Hitched For 20 Years And Didn't Even Know It

Who says Hollywood marriages can't stand the test of time?
For comedian Janeane Garofalo, staying married for 20 years was a cinch -- perhaps because she had absolutely no idea she was still hitched to her '90s boyfriend.
The 48-year-old says she married "The Big Bang Theory" producer Rob Cohen "as a joke" in 1991, but didn't think the nuptials had actually stuck.
She tells the New York Post: "We got married drunk in Vegas ... We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab. [We thought] you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew?"
At this weekend's reunion of "The Ben Stiller Show," she added, "We were married, and apparently now that [Rob] is getting married for real, his lawyer dug up something.”
Cohen is now engaged to Jill Leiderman, a producer on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Kenyan mother names twins Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

A young Kenyan mother has named her newborn twin sons
after the U.S. president-elect and his defeated Republican
challenger.

Millicent Owuor, 20, gave birth to Barack Obama and Mitt
Romney on Wednesday at the Siaya District Hospital in
southwest Kenya, according to the Standard.

Owuor told the Kenyan news outlet her sons' names will
always remind her of the election in the United States.

The hospital is near the village of Kogelo, where where
President Barack Obama's father was born and where his 90-
year-old stepgrandmother, Sarah Obama, resides.

Jubilant residents in Kogelo cheered Obama's victory as
results from the United States were reported.
Shouts of "Hail our Kogelo son" and "Obama is coming, open
the road for him" rang through the air as locals blew
vuvuzela horns in celebration, the Standard reports.
"If Obama did not win, I believe most projects here would
stall," Joseph Onyango told the Kenyan media outlet.
Kenyans hope Obama's re-election will harken a fresh start
for a U.S. relationship with Kenya, Reuters reports.
Obama visited sub-Saharan Africa just once during his first
four years as president—a stop of less than a day in Ghana,
according to Reuters.

If Obama does visit Kenya, maybe baby Barack can meet his
namesake and baby Mitt meet the U.S. president.

There's no word yet if there have been twins named Joe
Biden and Paul Ryan.

The man who took 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes and 20.379 seconds to complete a marathon race

Kanakuri Shizō was a Japanese marathon runner and one of the early leaders of track and field athletics in Japan. He has been celebrated as "father of marathon" in Japan.

However, Kanakuri is best known for disappearing during the marathon race in the 1912 Summer Olympics. The race was held at Sollentuna Municipality in unexpected 40 deg C heat, and over half of the runners in the event suffered from hyperthermia. Kanakuri, weakened by the long journey from Japan, and suffering from problems with the local food, lost consciousness midway through the race, and was cared for by a farming family. He returned to Japan without notifying race officials. Swedish authorities considered him missing for 50 years before discovering that he was living in Japan and had competed in intervening Olympic marathons.

In 1966, he was contacted by Swedish Television and offered the opportunity to complete his run. He accepted and completed the marathon in

54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes and 20.379 seconds, remarking, "It was a long trip. Along the way, I got married, had six children and 10 grandchildren."

Missing woman unknowingly joins search herself

A woman who was reported missing from an Icelandic tour unwittingly joined a search for herself.

According to the Reykjavik Grapevine, a woman described as "Asian, about 160cm, in dark clothing and speaks English well" was listed as missing Saturday near the Eldgjá volcanic canyon in southern Iceland.

A search continued through the weekend with reports saying she got off a tour bus and never returned.

It turns out the woman merely changed clothes during the bus stop, and after she returned, those on the bus didn't recognize her.

When the description of the "missing" woman was circulated, apparently the lady who changed her outfit didn't recognize the description of herself. So she joined the search party.

About 50 people searched the area in vehicles and on foot, and a helicopter was ready to assist.
Eventually it occurred to the "missing" woman that she could very well be the person everyone was looking for, and she promptly reported herself as safe and sound to police.
The search was called off early Sunday morning.

Man Butt Dials 911 in the Middle of Drug Deal

A Pennsylvania man was arrested and is facing drug charges after he butt-dialed 911 while meeting with his drug dealer.

Butt-dialing (also known as “pocket dialing”) is when you unintentionally call someone while your phone is in your pocket, allowing the receiver of the call to hear whatever you’re doing at the moment.
It’s happened to everyone at least once — either you have been butt dialed, or you were the one doing the butt dialing.

The worst times to butt dial?
1. When you’re cheating on your significant other … and you accidentally butt dial them
2. If you’re a teenager, and you tell your parents you’re just going to a friend’s house … and you unintentionally butt dial your parents while you and your buddies are out partying at 2 a.m.
3. When you’re getting drugs from a drug dealer … and you unexpectedly butt dial 911.

Number three happened to 24-year-old Justin Kryzanowski, who accidentally called the police while he while he was sitting in a car making a drug deal.

According to reports, police listened in on the whole conversation and traced the call back to Kryzanowski’s apartment, where they found various prescription meds, drug paraphernalia, brass knuckles and syringes full of Suboxone — a medication used to treat opioid addiction.

During questioning, Kryzanowski, speaking in slow and slurred speach, told police that he met with his friend “Rick,” who gave him the Suboxone, which subsequently took.
After all was said and done, Justin Kryzanowski was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and prohibited offensive weapons.

Woman Gives Birth To Own Grandchild

Make room on the mantle for one woman in Maine to get mother- and grandmother-of-the-year awards.
That's because 49-year-old Linda Sirois gave birth to her own grandson earlier this month.

That accomplishment might sound complicated, but actually Sirois acted as a surrogate for her daughter who has a heart condition that makes it unsafe for her to become pregnant, the Portland Press Herald reports.
On Aug. 13, Sirois gave birth by C-section to 7-pound, 14-ounce Madden Hebert as his mom Angel Hebert stood nearby, the Daily Mail said
"It was all pretty simple as far as I was concerned," Sirois told the Portland Press Herald. "I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months."

Sirois told her 25-year-old daughter for years that she would be a surrogate if Hebert was unable to get pregnant. Hebert and her 29-year-old husband, Brian, were told just that by a doctor last summer, the Associated Press reports.
"It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it," Hebert told the Portland Press Herald. "But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility and, all along, my mother was saying, 'I'm here and I can carry for you.'"

Sirois made good on her offer and had Hebert's egg -- fertilized with her husband's sperm -- successfully implanted.
She told the Herald that compared to her four previous pregnancies, this one may have been the easiest, with no morning sickness or complications.
"It was awesome," Hebert, who was in the delivery room with her mother, told the Herald. "It was an awesome, awesome experience."
S

irois told the Herald it's not unusual for a grandmother to be a surrogate for her own grandchild.
"It was their child all along," she said. "It was just a room for rent."

Oklahoma high school valedictorian denied diploma for using 'hell' in speech

PRAGUE, Okla. – An Oklahoma high school valedictorian who was denied her diploma because she used the world “hell” in her commencement speech doesn’t plan to apologize for her choice of words, her father says.

David Nootbaar said he is furious that Prague High School is withholding his daughter Kaitlin's diploma because of her use of the word during the graduation speech in May. “She has worked so hard to stay at the top of her class and this is not right,” he said. “She earned that diploma. In four years she has never made a B. She got straight A’s and had a 4.0 the whole way through."

Man selling 'Michael Jackson' bird poop

A Chicago-area man put the windshield of his car up for auction because it has a bird dropping he says looks like the late pop star Michael Jackson.

"One of two things will happen," said owner Brandon Tudor, an Oswego salesman and father of three. "It will go for an astronomical amount or I'll get nothing."

Tudor, 29, said he was driving along U.S. Highway 30 near Big Rock Wednesday when bird poop hit the windshield of his 1996 Cadillac Seville, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

He said he immediately saw a resemblance to the pop icon and it became more obvious "after it hardened."

"Everybody loves it," Tudor said. "There's not one person who's seen it that doesn't agree it looks like Michael Jackson."

The minimum starting bid for the windshield is set at $500 on eBay. Until the auction closes, Tudor is keeping the bird poop image covered in plastic to protect it from washing away and parking his car in a garage.

Women-only industrial city to be built

Saudi Arabia is set to construct an industrial city for women only to allow them to work in an environment in line with the country's strict laws.

The city, to be built in Hofuf, is being built to allow women to become more financially independent, the British newspaper The Guardian reported Sunday.

The Saudi Industrial Property Authority said the city is slated to open next year.

"I'm sure that women can demonstrate their efficiency in many aspects and clarify the industries that best suit their interests, nature and ability," authority Deputy Director General Saleh al-Rasheed said.

The city will create about 5,000 jobs for women in textiles, pharmaceuticals and food-processing, and will be near residential neighborhoods "to facilitate the movement of women to and from the workplace," the authority said in a statement.

Currently, women make up only 15 percent of Saudi Arabia's workforce, the report said. Proposals have also been submitted for four similar industrial cities to be created.

LA sheriff: Man recovers car 42 years after theft

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Texas man whose prized sports car was stolen 42 years ago recovered the vehicle in California after spotting it on eBay, authorities said Sunday.

Robert Russell told the Los Angeles County sheriff's officials that he had never given up searching for the 1967 Austin-Healey after it was stolen from his Philadelphia home in 1970.

The 66-year-old retired sales manager from Southlake told the Dallas Morning News he paid a friend $3000 for the car. It had sentimental value to him because it was stolen the morning after he took his future wife out on their second date.

Russell said he spent years surfing the Internet looking for the car and didn't have much hope of finding it.

"The fact that the car still exists is improbable," he said. "It could have been junked or wrecked."

He said he checked on eBay periodically and spotted it a few weeks ago. He immediately called a Beverly Hills car dealership that was selling it.

He said the vehicle's identification number matched that of his car. He had the original key and car title, but not a copy of the stolen-car report to prove that it was stolen from him.

Russell contacted Philadelphia police for help and learned that the stolen-car report wasn't showing up at the FBI's national crime index because one vehicle identification number was entered incorrectly. The report was finally found and the file was reactivated, enabling Los Angeles authorities to impound the car.

Russell and his wife, Cynthia, drove to Los Angeles and took possession of the car. It's now valued at $23,000.

"It still runs, but the brakes don't work well," he said. "We're going to put it back the way it was."

Referee dishes out five red cards in dressing room

LONDON (Reuters) - A referee sent off five players in the dressing rooms after a post-match brawl at an English League Two (fourth tier) game between Bradford City and promotion-chasing Crawley Town.

"I can't believe this has happened," Bradford manager Phil Parkinson, who had three players shown red cards after the 2-1 home defeat on Tuesday night, told the BBC.

"I have never been in a situation before where a ref has come into the dressing room, pulled players on one side and sent them off. He wouldn't allow me in there."

Six Crawley players and one from Bradford were booked during the match with Bradford's Andrew Davies, who was sent off, now set for a five-match ban after being shown red cards twice previously this season.

6,060 years in prison for former Guatemalan soldier

(CNN) -- A Guatemalan court convicted a former soldier for his role in a 1982 massacre and sentenced him to more than 6,000 years in prison.

Pedro Pimentel Rios is the fifth former soldier convicted of atrocities for the killing of 250 people in the village of Dos Erres during the country's civil war.
Pimentel was extradited from the United States to Guatemala in July 2011.

Relatives of the victims said justice was late, but it finally came.
"By the grace of God I feel quite happy, because really you can see that justice is being done. ... It was an atrocity, what they did," said Ramiro Osorio, whose parents and siblings were killed in the massacre.

The evidence presented by the prosecution and the testimonies of the witnesses proved that Pimentel was involved in the killings, Judge Irma Valdez said Monday.
He was sentenced to 30 years each for 201 of the Dos Erres killings and another 30 on a charge of crimes against humanity.

The former soldier told family members of the victims in court that he was shocked by what happened, but denied involvement in the massacre and argued that Guatemalan authorities were influenced by foreign interests in the case.
"Now a group of liars are graduating, and this trial is the exam, and they passed it. Everything they said was believed," he said.

The judge ruled that Pimentel was part of a special unit known as the Kaibiles, who stormed the village, thinking that residents were hiding left-wing guerrillas.
Last year, four other former soldiers -- Carlos Antonio Carias Lopez, Reyes Collin Guali, Daniel Martinez Mendez and Manuel Pop Sun -- were also sentenced to more than 6,000 years in prison for the same massacre.

That trial was one of Guatemala's first against former soldiers who served in the dictatorship era.
More than 200,000 people were killed or "disappeared" between 1966 and 1996, the United Nations estimates. The organization documented 669 massacres in Guatemala during the nation's 36-year civil war, which ended in 1996.

Thomas Robert Harter Jumps Off Bridge To Avoid DUI Test

A New Orleans man went to extreme measures to avoid taking a DUI test: He jumped off a 20-foot-high bridge.

On Sunday, Thomas Robert Harter was pulled over by police and asked to take a sobriety test after another motorist reported his car swerving and speeding, according to Newser.

Although Harter got out of the car without being asked, and was waving his arms in the air, police say he was swaying smelling of alcohol and wearing a green St. Patrick's Day necklace. When the officer asked for his vehicle registration, Harter got back into his car and exited again, holding a pile of paper scraps and a stack of CDs, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, still swaying.

At that point, the officer asked Harter to take a field sobriety test and he agreed, before suddenly "bolting" and leaping into the water 20 feet below.

One officer managed to grab him, but couldn't hold on to Harter, who was wearing jeans, boots and a camouflage T-shirt.

Harter fell into the lake and disappeared into the water, which was rough, with winds between 15 and 20 mph, and cold, about 60 degrees, according to Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou.

The southbound lanes were closed for about a half hour as rescuers looked for him.

"We were concerned that the current would just take him away," Dufrechou told the Times-Picayune.

Luckily, Harter managed to grab a utility building at the base of the bridge. He was hauled out of the 60-degree water intact and arrested for what will be his eighth drunk-driving charge, according to WWL-TV.

He was also charged with resisting arrest and careless driving, and booked as a fugitive on outstanding warrants for a hit and run.

He is being held on a $15,000 bond on the alleged driving violations, according to Fox News, but Dufrechou thinks that's better than the alternative.

"He's a lot better off than being crabmeat," he told reporters.

White Grandfather Cuffed For Walking With Black Granddaughter

Scott Henson (pictured), a self-described White Texas redneck, was cuffed last Friday by a swarm of policemen, because he was walking his Black 5-year-old grandchild down the street. The Austin resident spoke to NewsOne about how he was accosted by police for being in the company of his grandchild, Ty (pictured).

Ty’s mother is not Henson and his wife’s biological child; the couple decided to raise her after her own father died. Still, the woman calls Henson and his wife “Mom” and “Dad,” and naturally, her daughter refers to the couple as her grandparents.

Henson’s grandchild typically spends Friday nights with her grandfather and his wife, so that the little girl’s parents can get a break. Last Friday, Henson, who is a journalist and creator of two popular blogs GritsforBreakfast and Huevos Rancheros, took his grandchild to a skating rink near his home as a reward for being a high achiever at school. The kindergartener grew tired of skating, so the pair decided to walk home rather than have his wife pick them up from the rink.

After walking a distance from the rink, Henson felt as if he was being followed. Suddenly, someone called out to them, and it turned out to be a deputy constable.

“She told me to take my hand out of my pocket and to step away from Ty, declaring that someone had seen a White man chasing a Black girl and reported a possible kidnapping. Then she began asking the 5-year-old about me. The last time this happened, Ty was barely 2, and I wasn’t about to let police question her. This time, though, at least initially, I decided to let her answer. “Do you know this man?” the deputy asked. “Yes, he’s my Grandpa,” Ty said. “What did you say?” the deputy repeated. “He’s my Grandpa!” Ty yelled, then rushed back over to me and grabbed hold of my leg. “Okay,” the deputy responded.

The constable asked for Henson’s name and address, and he chose not to answer stating that if he was not being held for anything, he would like to take the child home. The woman complied and allowed Henson to leave.

Just as Henson and Ty were approaching their home, a police cruiser that had passed them by after the constable released them suddenly turned around and threw on his flashing lights. Four more police cars joined, surrounding Henson and Ty. Officers jumped out of their vehicles with tasers drawn, demanding that Henson throw up his hands and step away from the child. The officers grabbed the child and put her in the backseat of a vehicle. By now there were a total of nine to ten police cars surrounding Henson and his granddaughter.

“ I gave them the phone numbers they needed to confirm who Ty was and that she was supposed to be with me (and not in the back of their police car), but for quite a while nobody seemed too interested in verifying my story. One officer wanted to lecture me endlessly about how they were just doing their job, as if the innocent person handcuffed on the side of the road cares about such excuses. I asked why he hadn’t made any calls yet, and he interrupted his lecture to say, ‘We’ve only been here two minutes, give us time” (It had actually been much longer than that). Maybe so, I replied, sitting on the concrete in handcuffs, but there are nine of y’all milling about doing nothing by my count so you’ve had 18 minutes for somebody to get on the damn phone by now so y’all can figure out you screwed up.”

According to Henson, the same deputy constable who had questioned him earlier walked in on the scene and briefly looked his way as she spoke to police personnel. Soon after, a supervisor arrived and began questioning the officers. The woman came over to Henson and began explaining how the police department has to take complaints about possible kidnappings seriously. By this point, though, Henson felt he was guilty in the eyes of law enforcement for the “heinous crime of babysitting while white.”

After Henson was released, there were no apologies issued. After being interrogated, Ty was given a flashlight as a consolation prize. According to Henson, the deputy constable who could now barely look him in the eyes, “You knew better. This is on you.”

Meanwhile Ty, who was visibly shaken after witnessing how authorities treated her granddad, is left with a negative perception of law enforcement. “I hate for a 5-year-old to be subjected to such an experience. I’d like her to view police as people she can trust instead of threats to her and her family, but it’s possible I live in the wrong neighborhood for that.”

Attempts were made by News One to obtain a quote from the Austin police department regarding the Henson case but our calls were not returned.

Teen pregnant 'from swimming in pool'

A mother is suing a hotel in Egypt after claiming her 13-year-old daughter got pregnant from swimming in a pool, a report claims.

Magdalena Kwiatkowska is convinced her daughter is a virgin and came into contact with some sperm as she swam in the hotel pool, British tabloid The Sun reports.

Mrs Kwiatkowska is now reportedly seeking compensation after returning to the family home in Poland.

"The mother is adamant that her daughter didn't meet any boys while she was there," a travel industry source was quoted as saying.

"She is determined to go ahead with the case."

Tourist authorities in the Polish capital Warsaw confirmed they received Mrs Kwiatkowska's complaint, the newspaper said.

World’s youngest grandmother is just 23-years-old

A 23-year-old woman is claiming that she is the world’s youngest grandmother.

Rifca Stanescu gave birth when she was just 12 years old and two years ago her daughter Maria had a baby at the age of 11.

Despite urging her daughter not to follow in her footsteps and stay in school, Stanescu told The Sun that Maria left to get married when she was just 10 and gave birth to her first child the following year.

"I am happy to be a grandmother but wished more for Maria," Stanescu told the paper.

Stanescu also revealed that she eloped with jewellery salesman Ionel Stanescu when she was 11 and he was 13.

She fled with her boyfriend because she was worried her father would force her to marry someone else in the village of Investi in Romania.

Her mother, also named Maria, became a great grandmother at just 40 years old.

Last month, the woman who is set to become Britain’s youngest grandmother at age 29, said that her daughter becoming a teen mum was ‘her worst nightmare’.

Kelly John gave birth to her daughter, Tia, at age 14. Tia is now expecting her own child at the same age.

'My worst nightmare has always been that Tia would repeat my mistake and get pregnant young. [When I found out] I felt the colour drain from my face and all I could do was cry.' John told the News of the World.

Couple names baby girl after ‘Like’ feature on Facebook

A couple from Israel has named their newborn daughter 'Like' after the social networking feature on Facebook.

The girl's new moniker was inspired by a button which allows users to express their endorsement of photos, status updates and links.

Lior Alder and his wife Vardit live in the town of Hod Hasharon just outside Tel Aviv and said they wanted a name for their daughter that was 'modern and innovative'.
They succeeded in choosing an original name, with their child reportedly the first and only person in the country with the name 'Like'.

"In our opinion it's the modern equivalent of the name Ahava [Love]," Adler told Israeli newspaper Maariv.

"It's just my way of saying to my fantastic daughter, 'Love'."
The most common names for girls in Israel are Noa, Maya and Tamar, according to the Haaretz newspaper.

The parents have a fondness for innovative names. One of their daughters is named Pie — after the popular British food, while their other daughter is named Vash, which is honey in Hebrew.

Reaction to his daughter's name has been mixed, Adler said.
"When I posted her picture and name on Facebook I got 40 'likes'," he said.
"Considering that I have only a little more than 100 friends on the network that's a lot."
Not everyone was keen on the name and some friends "simply didn't believe it," Adler said.
"I believe there will be people who will lift an eyebrow ... but it is my girl and that's what's fun about it."

Mother Files $900 Trillion Lawsuit Against NYC For Taking Her Kids Away

Staten Islander Fausat Ogunbayo, 46, has filed a shocking $900 trillion federal suit against the City Of New York for placing her two children in a foster home over three years ago.

In court documents filed last week, Ogunbayo has accused the Administration for Children’s Services and city for causing economic hardship, substantial economic injuries and violating her and her children’s civil rights. Her sons, removed in June 2008, are now ages 16 and 13

Ms. Ogunbayo alleges she and her children have suffered “over three years of terror, horror, grievous harm, time lost, substantial economic hardship and injuries” due to their separation.

In removing the boys, the city contended Ms. Ogunbayo was mentally unstable and had refused treatment, said court papers. She allegedly suffered from hallucinations and delusions, and also left the boys at home alone for extended periods while she was working, the city maintained.

Ms. Ogunbayo, who is representing herself, has branded the allegations a “huge lie.”

Further, in her complaint she states the city “recklessly disregarded” her “right to family integrity.” Ogunbayo no doubt took note of a state Appellate Division decision from January in a separate case vacating the neglect charge by Family Court due to lack of evidence the boys were in “imminent danger.”

In fact, the youngsters had “near-perfect” attendance in school and “were doing well, even thriving, academically,” while in their mother’s care, the appellate division said. In addition, the boys were up to date on their medical examinations and vaccinations, and their heights and weights were appropriate for their ages, said the court.

The children remain in ACS custody due to a petition pending in Family Court, according to the city Law Department.

The net effect of the forcible removal of your kids is soul-crushing. But at a net price of $900,000,000,000,000? For perspective: The largest City settlement to an individual is $18,278,000 to James McMillan who suffered paralyzing injuries in the 2003 Staten Island Ferry dock crash that killed 11 passengers. He was originally awarded $22.9 million by a jury. And the national debt is $15 trillion.

“It’s hard to even take it seriously,” says a spokesperson for the city Law Department. “There may be a case, which is for a court of law to decide, but that’s a made-up number.”

Man accused of stealing Ind. police car caught

A man accused of stealing a police cruiser while handcuffed in northwest Indiana, then using the police radio to ask where to find the car's cigarette lighter, has turned himself in after two days on the run, authorities said early Friday.

William Francis Blankenship, 22, was taken into custody late Thursday night at his family's home in Knox, a small town about 50 miles southeast of Chicago. Indiana State Police said cooperation from his family helped make the peaceful surrender possible.

Blankenship had been arrested Tuesday on drug charges at a gas station in nearby Kouts. Police said that as the arresting officer searched Blankenship's vehicle, the suspect somehow escaped from the police car's backseat, climbed into the front and drove off. He then used the police radio to ask where to find the car's cigarette lighter and a key to unlock his handcuffs.

Blankenship was being held at Porter County Jail early Friday, though jail records didn't yet list specific charges, bond or attorney information.

The officer whose squad car was stolen said he only realized the cruiser was gone when he looked up and saw the taillights leaving the parking lot.

"I probably had a really dumb look on my face for maybe half a second," Kouts police Sgt. Dave Johnston told The Associated Press earlier Thursday.

Johnston, an 11-year veteran, said he believes Blankenship managed to contort himself to get the handcuffs in front of him, then hopped into the front seat and put the car into reverse before pulling away. The squad car was found in a drainage ditch Wednesday, and authorities recovered the police weapons stored in the cruiser.

Johnston said he handcuffed Blankenship's hands behind his back and put him in the back of the running patrol car Tuesday night after spotting what he thought was drug paraphernalia in his car. The officer informed Blankenship he was under arrest, then went back to search the car more thoroughly. Johnston said he was searching for only another minute or two when he looked up.

Johnston said he was "a little embarrassed" because he knows a lot of people will assume he did something wrong, but he said he has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Kouts' police chief.

Couple Finally Reveals Child's Gender, Five Years After Birth

It's a boy! And he's five. Beck Laxton, 46, and partner Kieran Cooper, 44, have spent half the decade concealing the gender of their son, Sasha. "I wanted to avoid all that stereotyping," Laxton said in an interview with the Cambridge News. "Stereotypes seem fundamentally stupid. Why would you want to slot people into boxes?" Laxton, a UK-based web editor, and her partner, Cooper, decided to keep Sasha's sex a secret when he was still in the womb. The birth announcement stated the gender-neutral name of their child, but skipped the big reveal. Up until recently, the couple only told a few close friends and family members that Sasha was a boy and managed to keep the rest of the world in the dark. But now that he's starting school the secret's out. For years, Becks has been referring to her child, the youngest of three, as "the infant" on her personal blog. But guarding the public from her son's gender was only part of her quest to let her kid just be a kid. Sasha dresses in clothes he likes -- be it a hand-me-downs from his sister or his brother. The big no-no's are hyper-masculine outfits like skull-print shirts and cargo pants. In one photo, sent to friends and family, Sasha's dressed in a shiny pink girl's swimsuit. "Children like sparkly things," says Beck. "And if someone thought Sasha was a girl because he was wearing a pink swimming costume, then what effect would that have? " Sasha's also not short on dolls, though Barbie is also off limits. "She's banned because she's horrible," Laxton says in the Cambridge interview. On a macro level she hopes her son sets an example for other parents and makes them reconsider buying their own sons trucks or forcing their daughters into tights. She's seen how those consumer trappings affect how and who kids play with in the sandbox.

Man Marries Dead Girlfriend In Joint Funeral And Wedding Ceremony In Thailand

A man recently married his deceased girlfriend in a combination funeral and wedding ceremony. Chadil Deffy, also known as Deff Yingyuen, placed a ring on the finger of Sarinya "Anne" Kamsook, his girlfriend of 10 years, during the ceremony in Thailand's Surin province. The couple had planned to get married in the future, but Yingyuen wanted to focus on his studies before tying the knot, the Thai-Asean News (TAN) Network reported. Unfortunately, Kamsook unexpectedly died in an accident before the couple could set a date. According to the Pattaya Daily News, the couple met at Thailand's Eastern Asia University nearly a decade ago, and wreaths were placed around campus in memory of Kamsook following her death. Photos and footage of the ceremony were posted on Facebook and YouTube. And while some thought the service a bit strange, others expressed their sympathy for the groom. "...I didn't know her, but in your photos, she looks young and full of life. I can't image the impact her death has caused in the lives of her loved ones. It was a very moving gesture of love, very moving. It makes you rethink a lot of things in life, things you take for granted," Facebook user Alejandra Yanez wrote in spanish on Yingyuen's page. Onsiri Pravattiyagul, a friend of the groom, wrote an opinion column addressing Yingyuen's intentions and the media speculation his story has prompted. The piece, featured on the Bangkok Times, included the following: Chadil wrote matter-of-factly online -- and would later give interviews in the same vein -- explaining that the motivation for this display was guilt, pure and simple: He felt he hadn't done enough for his girlfriend of 10 years while she was alive. Before her sudden death in a road accident, she had suggested that he marry her. But he had demurred, putting the idea on hold. The "wedding" was his attempt to right a wrong, however belated the gesture might have been.

2011 in Retrospect

In January, i had the opportunity of participating in the Voter's registration exercise and was posted to "Mallam Yero" an interior vilage in Taraba where i had to stay for over 2 weeks with someone special God sent my way who became my backbone.
In March, the major disaster was the 9.0 earthquake in Japan which caused a typhoon and an eventual release of radioactive substance causing more damage.
In April, i was priviledged of participating in the Election proper headed by Prof Jega, which was adjugded as the most free and fair election in the country.
In May, the man behind the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attack, Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed in a secret US mission after 10 years of rigorous search.
In July, i lost a close friend and student of mine during the service year, Doko Aondofa In October, I completed my NYSC and returned home.
The painful thing was getting close to someone days before my departure, whereas i had been waiting for months to achieve that. I'll definitely miss my peeps, all those who made the experience memorable, they know themselves.
As a result of the arab uprising, former Libyan leader of 42 years, Col. Mouhammar Gaddhafi was captured and killed by opposite rebel groups against his governement. This is none the less after fellow arab counterparts from egypt, yemen, kuwait, bahrain, syria had faced the same fate with some been ousted eventually.

Big thanks to Sixpence None The Richer who made my year with some exciting songs. (Kiss Me, Breathe Your Name & Don't dream its over).
I lost all my script and other write ups, this was devastating for me as i had to start what i had almost completed all over again. As of 31st of December, i've been trying to recover all my scripts. I'll get back at you on that one. I actually didnt get them back.
With me chatting up with celebrities like Osita (PawPaw) Iheme & Chika Ike and then sighting Chinedu (Aki) Ikedieze, Rukky Sanda, Ebube Nwagbo and a few others. Luvly moments were all this as i would join the rank someday.
No doubt this year was the most memorable and adventurous in my life, I figured out who i really am and what i want to be, who i want to be with. I also did some things i'm not so proud of, but i have 2012 to right all wrongs.
